Over the last four decades, I’ve held a number of administrative and supervisory positions. I’ve directed and coordinated workshops, academic conferences, and public cultural events.

Acting Director, Center for the Study of Languages
Rice University 2001-2003
Oversaw faculty and staff of roughly 28 individuals teaching courses in 13 languages.

Program Director, Goethe-Institut Houston 1987-1992
Responsible for programming all cultural events, both within the humanities (film series, video programs, lectures, conferences, arts exhibits, concerts, theater, and dance performances), as well as in the fields of business, history, sociology, and politics. Duties included: overseeing a substantial budget; communicating with scholars, artists, critics, performers, agents, etc. on local, state, regional, national, and international levels; preparing publicity; providing in-house translation and interpretation.

Symposium Director, “After the Avant-Garde”

A unique cooperative enterprise between the university and community arts organizations, with coordinated presentations over a period of more than eight months in the areas of art, dance, music, drama, film, video, photography, literature, and architecture, together with panel discussions, lectures, workshops, readings, and interpretive exhibits. Programs explored the significance of experimental art forms through combined performance and discussion formats and included artists, writers, scholars, and critics of regional, national, and international distinction.
